KUALA LUMPUR – ZUS Coffee has lodged a police report following an incident involving one of its staff and a foreign customer, which recently went viral on social media.

In a statement, ZUS Coffee said the report was filed yesterday to ensure the safety of its employees and to protect their privacy.

“The staff member involved remains with us and is currently on paid leave to recover from the incident. Her well-being remains our top priority,” the company said.

“We recognise that the customer arrived with different expectations.

“We are using this opportunity to strengthen our training and support systems to build a workplace culture capable of handling challenges with professionalism and empathy,” it added.

The company also noted that the incident had affected the mental well-being of the staff member involved in the incident.

“We urge the online community to help remove posts that reveal the staff member’s identity, as continued exposure could have real and lasting consequences,” the statement read.

ZUS Coffee affirmed that it does not tolerate aggressive behaviour and is committed to ensuring its outlets remain safe for the community.

The incident, which occurred at one of the chain’s outlets, involved a foreign customer who became dissatisfied with her order.

In the viral video, the woman can be seen shouting in a foreign language and throwing a cup of coffee at the staff member.

Following the incident, the local coffee company expressed solidarity with the affected staff member.- November 12, 2025
