KUALA LUMPUR – The federal government is set to improve the e-Invoice system and the Sales and Service Tax (SST) to better support small businesses, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

While recognising the benefits of the e-Invoice initiative, Anwar acknowledged the challenges it has posed for smaller companies, Bernama reported.

“I am aware of the issues raised and I am prepared to make the necessary adjustments, but I cannot announce them now as it is campaign season,” he said at a reception and dinner with the Chinese community at Hakka Hall in Sandakan, here, this evening.

The Prime Minister assured the public that the government is attentive to concerns and will work to refine both the e-Invoice system and SST implementation.

On the subject of the ongoing Sabah state election, Anwar said that while Pakatan Harapan (PH) will not be forming the state government, it is ready to support a cooperative relationship between the state and federal administrations.

He emphasised that any government formed must be inclusive of all races, warning that Malaysia’s progress would be hindered by divisions based on state or district sentiments.

“Playing up state sentiments, playing up district sentiments – we will not succeed,” he stated.

Anwar expressed confidence in the chances of PH candidates Vivian Wong Shir Yee in Elopura, Tang Szu Ching in Tanjong Papat, and Datuk George Hiew Vun Zin in Karamunting, hoping they would secure a simple majority.

Earlier in the day, Anwar visited the Karamunting constituency, attending a session with PH candidate Hiew at the Karamunting District Polling Centre. He was welcomed by a traditional kompang performance from the Al-Falah Group of Kampung Karamunting before spending 30 minutes engaging with local community members.

Anwar was also scheduled to attend the Ceramah Perdana PMX Sayang Sabah for the Merotai state seat in Tawau later that evening.

The 17th Sabah State Election, covering 73 state seats, is set to take place on Saturday. – November 26, 2025
