KUALA LUMPUR — PKR Youth has called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation to expose the individuals in an alleged plot to overthrow the government.

Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said if the allegations are true, they would constitute an external threat which cannot be taken lightly.

“We take seriously the allegations of efforts involving foreign firm to exert pressure on the foundations and institutions of the nation.

“This matter directly concerns the sovereignty and dignity of the country, and is not merely ordinary polemic or complaint,” he said in a post on X, today.

Muhammad Kamil, who is also political secretary to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his capacity as Finance Minister, urged the authorities to act immediately, regardless of the position held by any of the alleged parties involved.

“We do not want such matters to continue being seen as political tactics. The people have the right to know the truth, and the country cannot compromise with any party which is willing to trade the country’s sovereignty and dignity for any interest that is damaging,” he said.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police had received a report concerning allegations of attempts to destabilise the government by a prominent local family using the services of UK-based public relations firm and international media.

The investigation is currently being handled by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department’s Prosecution and Law Division (D5), under Section 124B of the Penal Code. – February 28, 2026
