KUALA LUMPUR — Emergency meetings by Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) are reportedly being held this afternoon following the withdrawal of support by all Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen for the PH-led state government.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun is said to be calling for an emergency meeting at his official residence, according to Free Malaysia Today.
He reportedly sought an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir after Negeri Sembilan Umno announced their loss of confidence in his leadership and his state administration earlier today.
Aminuddin had been attending an awards ceremony at a school in Port Dickson when he abruptly left the event at around 11am, purportedly to meet Tuanku Muhriz in Kuala Lumpur, according to the New Straits Times.
Separately, Negeri Sembilan DAP is also said to be holding an emergency meeting this afternoon, FMT reported.
DAP holds 11 of PH’s 17 state seats. Umno has 14 and the opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) has five.
After the state Umno’s shock announcement this morning, Negeri Sembilan PN said it was ready to cooperate with BN-Umno in the state.
If that happens, BN and PN would hold 19 seats and be able to oust the PH state government by a slim majority in the 36-seat state legislative assembly.
At a press conference this morning, Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said all 14 assemblymen from the party had withdrawn their support for Aminuddin. The state legislative assembly speaker would be informed immediately of the development, he added.
Jalaluddin said they had lost confidence in Aminuddin because he failed to address the crisis involving the state’s four territorial chieftains (Undang Berempat) who want to remove Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.
Aminuddin had dismissed the attempt by the chieftains on grounds that one of them, Datuk Mubarak Dohak had since May last year ceased to be the Undang Luak of Sungai Ujong.
The crisis, which erupted in public last week, caused the sitting of the state legislative assembly last Thursday to be postponed indefinitely. – April 27, 2026
