KUALA LUMPUR – Negeri Sembilan DAP will retain more than half of its incumbent representatives for the upcoming state election as the party seeks to preserve its unbeaten record in seats it has contested since 2013.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party’s list of candidates is in its final stages of preparation and is expected to be announced within the next few days, Bernama reported.
The party will also introduce several new faces as it aims to defend the 11 seats it secured in the last state election.
“The candidate list will be announced early to give them time to make preparations and familiarise themselves with the constituencies they will contest, particularly the new candidates.
“Any elected representative who is replaced must assist and support the new candidate to ensure victory and maintain the party’s strength,” he told reporters after launching the Lobak Electronic Screen at Dataran Lobak today.
Loke, who is also Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman, previously confirmed that he would defend the Chennah seat in the coming election.
The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5, following an announcement by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, paving the way for a state election that must be held within 60 days.
In the 2023 state election, Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional formed the state government after winning 31 of the 36 seats. Pakatan Harapan secured 17 seats while Barisan Nasional won 14, with Perikatan Nasional taking the remaining five seats.
Negeri Sembilan became the second state to dissolve its legislative assembly after Johor, which dissolved its assembly on June 1.
Meanwhile, Loke said Johor DAP has yet to submit its full list of candidates for final approval. – June 10, 2026
