KUALA LUMPUR — Petronas Dagangan Bhd has broadened its used cooking oil (UCO) collection programme to 100 stations across the country, strengthening efforts to promote responsible waste management and circular economy practices.
The company said the initiative is designed to encourage the public to dispose of used cooking oil through proper channels while offering households an opportunity to earn additional income from kitchen waste, Bernama reported.
“The collected used cooking oil will be processed for further applications, including the production of alternative fuels,” the company said in a statement today.
Chief operating officer Azureen Azita Abdullah said participation in the programme reflects rising public awareness of sustainable waste practices.
“As of March 2026, PDB’s used cooking oil collection initiative has expanded to 100 stations nationwide, with more than 1.6 million kilogrammes of UCO collected.
“The initiative has also generated approximately RM4.8 million in returns for more than 560,000 participants. This demonstrates that small actions at home can have a significant impact not only on the environment, but also on society as a whole,” she said.
She added that the collected oil can be further refined into cleaner energy solutions, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
“This shows that everyday waste can be given a new value as part of a more sustainable energy solution,” she added. – June 20, 2026
