PETALING JAYA – Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil will meet with the management of the Information Department (Japen) soon to discuss PAS affiliated news publication Harakah’s appeal over the revocation of its media accreditation cards.

He said the department had been asked to review Harakah’s appeal, but to date, the ministry has not received any update on the matter.

Fahmi also said that he was made to understand that the department is examining issues related to journalism ethics based on guidelines established in 1989.

“So perhaps the Information Department wants to update and improve those guidelines,” he told reporters after the CX Summit 2023, here today.

Prior to this, Fahmi expressed confidence that the department had its own reasons for revoking Harakah’s media accreditation cards, hence further clarification should be sought from the department. – November 29, 2023
