[UPDATED] Maybank’s mobile app hit by service disruptions

Frustrated users report seeing error messages on the app, bank’s website

6:15 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Maybank is experiencing a service disruption for its mobile app again, leaving users fuming at the inability to make payments both online and at physical outlets.

When trying to access the app, it shows a notification saying: “We’re experiencing communication error. Please try again later.”

In some instances, users are left with a blank page without any account information.

Checks by Scoop also found that the desktop version of Maybank2u was buffering after attempts to log in.

According to a source, Maybank’s team is currently working towards rectifying the issue.

Several users took to social media at 5.37pm to express their ire over Maybank’s disruption, as they do not have sufficient cash as an alternative to pay.

“When I want to make payments, (that) is when (Maybank) decides to cause an issue. There is only one bar left for my petrol,” said X user @livinikon.

“I only have a few ringgit (left), and I need to top up my Touch n’ Go to ride the MRT,” said another user who goes by @aleeeyaaa_.

Some sarcastically commented that such disruptions were the new norm.

“Maybank is making down maintenance like a routine now,” user @asyeedhamdan quipped.

“‘She uses a big car, but (her) card has no balance’, Hey auntie, this is all Maybank’s fault, not my car’s,” user @fiqratuladha said, expressing frustration at a comment she received.

Maybank’s mobile app had gone through multiple system disruptions in recent times, including one less than a week before Aidilfitri celebrations.

Also recently, users could not access Maybank’s Tabung feature, leaving them worried about their funds.

At 6.55pm, Maybank issued an alert on its X page, explaining that unavailable services include its MAE app, Maybank2u and Maybank2u Biz features for both web and app, as well as debit card transactions. – May 23, 2024
