Putra Heights Mosque to accommodate residents affected by gas blaze

Fire and rescue teams are trying to contain the blaze that broke out this morning

KUALA LUMPUR – A temporary evacuation centre (PPS) has been opened at the Putra Heights Mosque to accommodate those affected by a gas pipe fire along Jalan Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed that all affected residents will be temporarily housed at the PPS.

“The District Disaster Management Unit has activated a temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at the Putra Heights Mosque to accommodate those affected for the time being until the situation is restored and under control,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He added that the Fire and Rescue Department is in the midst of extinguishing the fire and has started evacuating residents in the surrounding areas.

According to the Assistant Director of Operations for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the estimated length of the affected pipe is 500 metres.

He said the fire department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.23 am today.

“So far, the number of residents involved (evacuated) is still unknown,” he said in a statement today.

A total of 41 personnel from the Subang Jaya, Puchong, Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong, Cyberjaya, Rawang, Klang Selatan, Klang Utara and Damansara fire stations have been deployed to the scene. – April 1, 2025
