KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his gratitude following a two-day family trip to Johor, where he immersed himself in the state’s rich historical and cultural sites.

“Alhamdulillah, Johor (visit) completed,” Anwar said briefly when approached by Bernama before departing JB Sentral Station for Kuala Lumpur.

Accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) chief operating officer Afzar Zakariya, the prime minister arrived at JB Sentral at 3:27 pm. The family was scheduled to board the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) at 4 pm.

Anwar made sure to interact with visitors and staff at the terminal, posing for photos and exchanging greetings before his departure.

On the previous day, Anwar had arrived in Johor Bahru on the same train service at 3:10 pm. Upon his arrival, he visited the Johor Zoo, spending time with his grandchildren, meeting visitors, and learning about the zoo’s latest developments. He expressed his hope for the zoo’s continued growth as a recreational, educational, and heritage asset for the people.

This morning, the prime minister visited the Royal Abu Bakar Museum, which houses valuable royal collections and preserves the historical and cultural heritage of the Johor Sultanate.

Anwar commended the Johor state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance heritage sites and bolster tourism, particularly in support of the Visit Johor 2026 (TMJ2026) initiative. – February 2, 2026
