KUALA LUMPUR — Ten people were injured after a roller coaster accident on Saturday at a popular theme park in Selangor, Subang Jaya police said.
District police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police received a report about the incident at about 11.45am yesterday, a day after the accident which occurred at approximately 9pm.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that 22 individuals, comprising locals and foreign tourists aged between 11 and 44, were riding the roller coaster when the accident occurred,” he said in a statement
Ten of those on the rollercoaster were injured and subsequently taken to medical centres in the Subang Jaya area for treatment.
“All victims sustained only minor injuries, and there were no fatalities,” Wan Azlan said.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Wan Azlan also advised the public against making any speculation that could interfere with the investigation.
He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation, adding that the identities of all informants would be kept confidential.
“Members of the public with information may contact the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-78627100 (Subang Jaya District Control Centre),” he said.
On the Threads social media platform, users have commented on the presence of police personnel at the theme park yesterday.
As of press time, no statement on the incident has been issued by the management of the theme park. – August 24, 2026
