KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said that he is considering the need for a cabinet reshuffle.

“I’ll think about the reshuffle in due time,” he briefly said to reporters before leaving the closing ceremony of the Malaysia Information and Communication Technology Summit 2023 today.

Earlier, media reports had hinted at the likelihood of an impending cabinet reshuffle with several ministers expected to be replaced.

Moreover, the sources suggested that the reshuffle will only take place after the Pelangai by-election scheduled for October 7.

Meanwhile, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that today’s cabinet meeting did not include discussions about the impending reshuffle.

On September 15, Anwar had said that the vacant position of the domestic trade and cost of living minister would be filled promptly.

Currently, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs, and Special Duties), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali is the acting minister.

The post became vacant following the death of its previous incumbent, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, on July 23. – September 27, 2023
