Body of foreign woman found in Petaling Jaya, case being investigated as homicide

She was discovered near the staircase of an apartment block

KUALA LUMPUR – The body of a 19-year-old foreign woman found yesterday near the staircase of a Desa Mentari apartment in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya, had injuries on her neck, chest, and hands.

Her case is being investigated as a homicide under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The Petaling Jaya police headquarters received an emergency call from a local male resident at about 6.30pm after he discovered the body.

Petaling Jaya police chief Mohd Fakhrudin Abd Hamid said the caller reported discovering an unconscious young woman of unconfirmed ethnicity near the staircase of the apartment block.

Soon after, authorities deployed a forensics team, medical personnel from Sg Buloh Hospital and pathology experts from University Malaya Medical Centre.
