KUALA LUMPUR – Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli’s son has been released from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) custody after being detained for two days.

This was in relation to an investigation into document forgery and false claims submissions totalling RM600,000 over the past two years.

“He was freed this morning, Alhamdulillah.” Shukri told Scoop.

He added that he has not met with his son after he was released today.

Scoop has also reached out to MACC for more details on the case.

Yesterday, MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki said more arrests would be made in relation to the case, which has garnered public attention following the arrests of six individuals, including Shukri’s son.

All the suspects, aged between 26 and 37, were detained between 7am and 8am on Tuesday.

Yesterday, Shukri told the state assembly that if his son is guilty of corruption charges, then punishment should be imposed. – April 26, 2024
