Ocean Infinity has presented new search plan to Transport Ministry, say MH370 families

Proposal on ‘no find, no fee’ basis as previously stated by marine robotics company

KUALA LUMPUR – Marine robotics company Ocean Infinity has presented a new search proposal for MH370 to the Transport Ministry, according to the next-of-kin of those on board the missing flight.

MH370 Families posted on its Facebook page that the company had met Transport Minister Anthony Loke, senior ministry officials and representatives from other government agencies recently.

“The presentation was well received by the minister and his team. We wait for the required paperwork to be sorted out and a new contract is inked.

“MH370 families would like to extend our appreciation to all concerned,” the group said.

The proposal is on a “no find, no fee” basis, as previously stated by Ocean Infinity and reiterated by Loke.

In March, Loke said the company was working on a new search plan and would be presenting it to the ministry in early May.

The proposal will include a new search location, after failing to find the aircraft in a previous search in the Indian Ocean from 2017 to 2018.

Loke said the ministry will prepare a cabinet paper on Ocean Infinity’s new proposal.

Compensation will only be paid if the US-based company successfully finds the aircraft.

Flight MH370 went missing on March 8, 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board and is considered as having “ended” in the Southern Indian Ocean. – May 4, 2024
