‘See you in court’: Asyraf Wajdi to sue Mas Ermieyati over alleged defamation

KUALA LUMPUR – Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has announced plans to file a lawsuit against Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin over what he described as defamatory claims concerning the management of funds at the government agency.

Mas Ermieyati, who also serves as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson, allegedly accused Asyraf of misusing Mara funds by conducting surprise visits, discontinuing Quran memorisation programmes, and halting financial support for students pursuing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“A certain opposition MP from Melaka keeps spreading lies, claiming I’ve wasted Mara’s money because of ‘surprise visits’, ‘cutting hafazan programmes’, and stopping financial aid for TVET students,” Asyraf said in a Facebook post today.

“Insya-Allah, Mara’s legal team will commence legal proceedings against her. Initially, I didn’t want to respond, but this has gone too far with repeated slander.

‘See you in court, YB Mas’,” he wrote.

Previously, Mas Ermieyati made a series of statements which Asyraf has categorised as baseless and defamatory, particularly in relation to alleged financial mismanagement and the discontinuation of certain Mara initiatives. – May 28, 2025
