No registration required for RM100 Sara aid: Authorities warn of scams

Finance Ministry clarifies direct payment to identification cards, urges public to avoid fraudulent links

KUALA LUMPUR — The Finance Ministry (MOF) has reiterated that no application is required for the one-off RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) cash aid, which will be directly credited to recipients’ identification cards.

Datuk Zamzuri Abdul Aziz, Deputy Treasury Secretary-General (Policy), clarified that the cash assistance does not involve any e-Wallet services, Bernama reported.

He emphasised that members of the public should remain cautious of scams that claim to facilitate the application process or provide fraudulent e-Wallet links.

“The aid will be directly deposited into the identification cards of individuals aged 18 and above. There is no intermediary involved in this process,” he explained during an inspection of the Rahmah Cash Aid programme in Pulau Bum Bum, Semporna.

Meanwhile, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching has warned of deceptive links being circulated by fraudsters, designed to steal personal information under the guise of official government assistance.

Teo highlighted a specific example: the website BantuanNegara.com, which fraudulently claims to offer details about the RM100 SARA aid. She confirmed that this link is a scam.

“Be wary of links that do not end with ‘.gov.my’, as legitimate government sites will use this domain,” Teo advised.

She further revealed that several complaints have been lodged by concerned citizens, prompting the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block the fraudulent website.

Both officials urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent falling victim to these scams. – July 26, 2025
