Father, children aged 6 and 9, drown in river near Kuala Kubu Baharu

Fire and rescue personnel found the victims already dead when they arrived at the scene

HULU SELANGOR – A family of three was found drowned in Sungai Balak near Jalan Genting Lama-Batang Kali, here today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the victims were a man, a boy and a girl.

The department received a distress call about a drowning incident at 1.09pm, and later found the victims already deceased at the scene.

“Their bodies will be taken to Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital for post-mortem,” Wan Md Razali said in a statement.

A 12-person team from the Kuala Kubu Bharu fire station was assisted by water rescue personnel from the Shah Alam and Port Klang stations, he added.

In a separate statement, the department said the man was aged 43, while the girl was nine and the boy, six.

The family had come from Kampung Kuantan Batang Kali to the river with other family members. – May 5, 2024
