Sabah to hold state polls on November 29

Nomination and early voting scheduled for November 15 and 25, respectively

KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission (EC) has confirmed that polling for the 17th Sabah State Election will be held on November 29, with candidate nominations scheduled for November 15.

EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun announced that early voting will take place on November 25.

“An estimated 1,784,843 eligible voters will exercise their right to vote in the 17th Sabah State Election,” he said in a press conference following a special meeting on the election at the Federal Government Administrative Complex in Kota Kinabalu today.

Earlier, on October 6, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor declared the dissolution of the Sabah Legislative Assembly to pave the way for the 17th state elections.

The Sabah state assembly has 79 seats, 73 of which will be contested, while the remaining six are held by appointed members.

The EC received official notification of the dissolution from Sabah DUN Speaker Datuk Kadzim M Yahya on October 6, a day after the Chief Minister’s announcement. – October 16, 2025
