KUALA LUMPUR – The Democratic Action Party (DAP) will contest 17 Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the upcoming state election, including defending the 10 seats it won in 2022.
DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke said this also includes four seats the party previously lost, as well as an additional three new seats under consideration.
“We have said that we will defend all the seats we won in the last election. We won 10 out of the 14 seats we contested. So, we will be contesting those four seats we lost again.
“We are also considering three additional seats. So, in total, we are considering contesting 17 seats,” he was quoted saying by Bernama during a press conference after officiating the launch of the DAP 60 Years Documentary in the Federal Territory today.
Loke also said that DAP will defend all 11 of its state seats in Negeri Sembilan.
The Transport Minister also stressed that political cooperation space and seat-sharing formulas with UMNO-Barisan Nasional (BN) in both states are effectively closed.
Johor has 56 state seats. In the 15th Johor state election held in March 2022, BN formed the state government after winning 40 of the 56 contested seats.
Meanwhile, in the 2023 state election, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN coalition formed the state government in Negeri Sembilan after securing 31 seats. PH won 17 seats, followed by BN (14) and Perikatan Nasional (five). – June 7, 2026
