KUALA LUMPUR – The suspect in the shooting incident involving a vehicle carrying the commander of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) in Bukit Kayu Hitam has been arrested.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the arrest was made in less than 24 hours.

He described the incident as regrettable but expressed gratitude that the commander was unharmed.

“An arrest has been made and the investigation process is now underway. It took less than 24 hours,” he said during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He was responding to Siti Zailah Yusoff (PN – Rantau Panjang) who asked about border security following the incident.

According to Saifuddin, ensuring border security remains the government’s priority, and it will not bow to any threats.

Earlier, a Proton X70 driven by Mohd Nasaruddin Mohd Nasir was reported to have been shot at about 5.40 am on a slip road near Masjid Muhajirin, Bukit Kayu Hitam, about one kilometre from the Malaysia–Thailand border.
